Roger Darvall-Stevens
National Head of Fraud and Forensic Services at RSM

What The Fraud? 
What is new? What to do?

Roger has over 25 years of experience in forensic investigations and forensic accounting, fraud, bribery & corruption control – prevention, detection, response (as well as impropriety or improper conduct), related training (e.g. employee awareness, interview techniques, investigation response), forensic IT, compliance (including foreign bribery and corruption risk), and corporate security. 

Roger is well credentialed being a licensed investigator, former police detective, a CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), trained and practised in advanced interview techniques, and MBA and MA (Criminology) qualified. 

He regularly presents at international and local conferences and seminars, and authors related articles and publications.

Paul Bloxham is chief spokesperson for HSBC on forecasts and trends for the Australian and New Zealand economies, their interaction with global financial markets and international economies and HSBC’s unique view on global commodity markets. 

Paul has published papers on housing, household finances, asset prices, monetary policy and global commodity market trends and is a regular commentator on local and international business television and Australian newspapers. 
 
In 2017, Paul’s team won Focus Economics awards for best overall forecaster in both Australia and NZ. Paul is a member of the ANU's Shadow Reserve Bank Board and is an Adjunct Professor at Curtin University and holds a Master's degree in public financial policy from the London School of Economics. Paul spent 12 years as an economist within the RBA's Economic Analysis Department where he headed up the overseas economies and financial conditions sections, as well as working on domestic forecasting and prices.

Nick has worked as an adviser on over $3 Billion of innovation projects in the last 5 years including for organisations such as Microsoft, Qantas, CBA and extensively with NSW Government.

Recently, he created the world’s first AI-enabled privacy law chatbot, Parker, on IBM Watson. While at Norton Rose Fulbright, Nick co-founded online legal disruptor, LawPath which now has over 40,000 customers. He is on the board of ASX-listed software company Integrated Research and is on the Board of global thinktank, The Institute for Economics and peace and others.

Nick regularly writes on technology and innovation for the AFR. He wrote the book Digital Disruption in Australia, which went to No. 1 on Kindle US and Australia. During the Dotcom boom, he was COO in the Spike Networks group and assisted in listing the company getting it to $300M of market cap.

Google Cloud creating what’s next

Colin was appointed as Country Director of Google Cloud in September 2017. He has responsibility for all of Google’s Cloud business including G-Suite, Chrome and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Cloud Professional Services across Australia and New Zealand. 

Google Cloud is building strong momentum in the AUNZ following the Cloud Region launch in Australia in mid 2017, also with a strong emerging Partner ecosystem supporting the platform.  

Prior to Google, Colin spent almost 5 years at Telstra as Executive Director responsible for Telstra’s Enterprise business, serving almost 1,000 of its largest customers. Colin also served as Executive Director for Operations and Services for Telstra’s Enterprise & Government division. 

Before joining Telstra, Colin worked at AWS where as the Managing Director for Public Sector APAC, he helped establish their Government footprint in the region. 

He also spent almost a decade at Microsoft, where he held a number of roles, including Director of the Enterprise business in Aus for 4 years, as well as Managing Director of APAC Public Sector, based in Singapore for his last 2 years. 

Colin also spent 8 years with Sun Microsystems, running their FSI business in Aus, as well as across various leadership roles in his 5 years with Unisys. 

Originally from South Africa, Colin, his wife and 3 children immigrated to Australia over 20 years ago and are now proud Australians. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and is an avid cyclist and sports enthusiast. 

Michael Shatter

Cyber Security

Michael is a Director of RSM’s Risk Assurance division in Melbourne with over 24 years' experience in the accounting and risk management industry, specialising in Security & Privacy, Probity Assurance and Advisory Services. These services reflect Michael’s focus on the security and integrity of information and related processes. 

Michael has worked on a range of strategic and tactical risk management projects including the delivery of comprehensive Cyber Security Assessments, Internal and External Penetration Tests, Social Engineering Security Reviews and IT and communication reviews of medium to large organisations. Michael’s focus is on providing Australian businesses with experienced security, privacy and probity services. Michael presents on cyber and security matters and recently spoke at the 2017 Australian Cyber Security Centre Conference.

Michelle Price
Chief Operating Officer, AustCyber

Australia's Cyber Security strategy, launched in April 2016, committed to establish a Cyber Security Growth Centre to position Australia as an attractive location for cyber security research and innovation.

Prior to joining AustCyber, Michelle was the the first Senior Adviser for Cyber Security at the National Security College within The Australian National University as well as the Australian Government Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C), where she was instrumental to the delivery of the Australian Government’s 2015 Cyber Security Review and Cyber Security Strategy.
 
Michelle is passionate about Australia’s cyber security sector enabling all Australian organisations to grow and take advantage of the cyber world. She is a strong advocate for increasing diversity in the cyber security workforce and inspiring people by the possibilities of cyber innovation.

Michelle Price is the COO for AustCyber (The Australian Cyber Security Growth Network Ltd).

Stuart Sharpe
Vice President, ANZ CSP Sales + World Wide CSP & Emerging Solutions Sales Engineering, Nuance Communications

Bringing Intelligence to Life

Stuart has been with Nuance Communications for over 16 years. Stuart leads the sales organisation for Nuance’s Communications Service Provider business in conjunction with leading the global technical pre-sales team for Communications Service Provider (CSP) and Internet of Things (IoT). 

Stuart has held engineering and leadership positions in a range of different fields including implantable medical devices, defence, telecommunications, payment systems, customer care and mobile solutions.

Stuart will be presenting at the RSM Business and Finance Symposium (BFS) in Sydney on bringing intelligence to life and applying these technologies to everyday life.

This part of the discussion will focus on useful information so that as management, an informed role can be taken on dealing with a breach.

Dr Kelvin Ross is an entrepreneur, technologist and researcher. He currently holds a number of roles, including Founder & Chairman of KJR, a mid-tier IT consultancy, Adjunct Associate Professor in Intelligent and Integrated Systems at Griffith University, and Director at IntelliHQ, a non-profit innovation Centre focused on Artificial Intelligence in healthcare at Gold Coast University Hospital. 

He has over 25 years of experience in advanced technology commencing with safety-critical combat systems in the military, then moving on to transportation, banking, financial markets, government and healthcare systems. He has participated in several successful and unsuccessful technology startups, as well numerous successful and unsuccessful technology implementation programmes in medium and large enterprises.
