Glyn is the National Head of Corporate Finance at RSM. Having worked in the profession and in industry in an M&A role, he has over 25 years of buy-side and sell-side experience and insights from both sides of the fence. Glyn will provide an update on recent trends impacting corporate transactions, including deal structures and mechanisms, valuation and due diligence. Glyn will also provide an overview of financial issues impacting companies looking to IPO or sell.

Tony is a Director in Tax Services at RSM. He has over 25 years corporate tax experience working with ASX listed and multi-national companies. Prior to joining RSM, Tony held senior management roles in ASX listed companies including BHP Billiton and Elders, and has extensive practical transactions experience covering tax structuring, funding and due diligence. Tony will discuss recent trends and tax developments impacting strategic transactions.

He manages consulting assignments and is responsible for providing clients with high level financial advice and strategic initiatives across local and Commonwealth government departments and agencies, as well as small and large businesses in a range of sectors and major corporates.

Paul Burns

 Building high performing teams in the future and the challenge of leading high performing teams

Paul Burns has been the CEO and Owner of Australian Targets Systems Pty Ltd since 2012, a global company that specializes in the design, project management, systems development, installation and maintenance of live-fire target range systems. 

ATS is the dominant provider to the Australian Defence Force and operates extensively throughout the Middle East and Asia. He has 25 years experience as a Special Forces Officer in the Australian Defence Force. Paul has intimate understanding of live-fire training, immersive live simulation and strategic capability development in Australia and internationally.

Prior to ATS, Paul was responsible for the provision of specialist Defence advice to the Prime Minister of Australia and the National Security Adviser, within the National Security Division of the Australian Government. This position required an intimate knowledge of governmental processes, policies and decision-making mechanisms.

Cyber & Fraud Update

Elliott Brink
Senior IT Security Consultant, Security and Privacy Risk Services, RSM 

Elliott Brink is a Senior IT Security Consultant in the Security and Privacy Risk Services group at RSM with over 6 years experience in advising on and testing organisations’ information technology ability to withstand cyber and security attacks.

Elliott specialises in internal and external penetration testing, social engineering testing, network security testing, wireless security testing, information technology controls reviews, Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard assessments and PCI data discovery assessments. 

Prior to joining RSM, Elliott worked for a “top 10” accounting and consulting firm performing information security consulting services. Before that, he was an IT lab administrator at a private university in Illinois, USA. 

Elliott performs security consulting services for global clients in Australia and abroad. He advises clients in a variety of industries including media conglomerates, chemical manufacturers, universities, hospitals, financial institutions and oil companies.

Rodney Eade
Managing Director, Facing Change

Sharing the lessons from his successful AFL playing and coaching career, Rodney Eade shares his change expertise through storytelling. An outstanding speaker and gifted motivator, Rodney engages us to think deeply about our mindset and approach to change.

Rodney has played 259 VFL/AFL games with Hawthorn/Brisbane, which included 4 premierships with Hawthorn. Rodney was also involved in 4 preliminary finals. 

Rodney has coached 377 AFL games in total. He began his coaching career in 1996 with Sydney Swans and then went on to coach Western Bulldogs and also Gold Coast Suns.

Rodney won AFL coach of the year award in 1996 when he also made a grand final appearance. 

 

 

Pat Munoz
Senior Manager of the Fraud & Forensics division in Melbourne, RSM

Cyber & Fraud Update

Pat is a Senior Manager of Fraud & Forensic Services at RSM. He has over seven years of experience in forensic investigations and forensic accounting, fraud and bribery & corruption control. 

Prior to RSM, Pat was a Senior Forensic Accountant within the Victorian Independent Broad-based Anti-Corruption Commission (IBAC) where he had been for two years, and initially commenced his career in forensics with South Australia Police where he was for approximately five years. 

Pat also has experience working for the Australian High Commission in Nairobi, Kenya, in the Visa Processing Humanitarian and Refugee Section. He is also a CPA Examination Marker, as well as providing his time to a not-for-profit in assisting disadvantaged persons seeking entry into the finance industry.

Mike Boyle

Glyn has specialist Corporate Finance experience in professional practice and industry including a detailed knowledge of corporate transactions and valuations in both the UK and Australia. Glyn is also the author of the RSM Business Acquisition and Impairment Review and Control Premium Study.

Glyn’s time spent in industry ensures that he understands the requirements of his client base including financial due diligence and independent accountant’s reports, business, intangible asset and infrastructure valuations, Independent expert’s reports, mergers and acquisitions and financial modelling and investment appraisal.

Matina Jewell
International keynote speaker and facilitator

Major Matina Jewell (retired) is one of the most highly decorated females in Australian military history.

Matina's military career culminated with a covered posting to serve as part of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation (UNTSO) in the middle east.

As the only Australian and female on Patrol Base Khiam, Matina was thrust into the middle of a devastating war between Israel and Hezbollah.

Matina's story is one of inspiration - of authentic leadership, of resilience in the face of crippling adversity and thriving through change across a trail-blazing military career and beyond.

Matina was deployed on five missions over a 15 year military career and commanded the Army Dept aboard HMAS Kanimbla at just 23 years old.

Serge Romano
Leverage sales coach

Managing sales and pipeline in the future

With over 30 years’ experience in sales, Serge Romano’s vision is to develop the next generation of exceptional sales people. 

Serge’s sales expertise was honed by many years in the franchise area. As the part owner of the Movieland franchise model which included 135 stores across Australia, Serge helped develop a business model that was successfully implemented by the franchises around Australia. In more recent years, Serge moved into the finance and mortgage broking industries. His roles in franchise and sales management within Mortgage Choice, Rams and Commonwealth Bank enabled him to lead and shape successful sales teams as a guide, teacher, coach and mentor.

It was during his time at Commonwealth Bank that Serge met Sales Coaching Guru, Jack Daly and decided it was time to turn his focus on sales coaching and training. Serge now is the Director and Head Sales Coach for Leverage Sales Coaching within Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia teaching proven Sales Systems and Processes to CEO’s, Managing Directors, Sales Managers and sales teams across a broad spectrum of companies.

Tony is a Director in the Tax Services Division in Melbourne at RSM. 

He has over 25 years of corporate tax experience. Tony specialises in providing corporate and international tax services to ASX listed and multi-national companies. He has extensive advisory experience working with companies across different industries, coupled with senior financial management experience in complex ASX listed companies. 

Tony is uniquely placed to guide companies through periods of change and ensure financial rigour for high growth businesses.

Prior to joining RSM, Tony held senior management roles with BHP Billiton, Elders and AWE Limited and was formerly a partner of PwC, specialising in corporate and international tax services.

Elliott will discuss the ever changing landscape of cyber security threats and what organisations are doing to manage these threats. In particular, Elliott will look at the impact of the Notifiable Breach Scheme which comes into full force from 22 February 2018 and how it will impact the way organisations look at security. Pat will focus on fraud, bribery and corruption risk mitigation and will cover what boards and senior business and finance executives need to know and what are the hot topics?
